13th January, 2013
The Baris NCEL Premier Division title race has turned slightly in Scarborough Athletic's favour after their 5-1 win at Thackley on Saturday.
Matt Hall had given the home side a tenth minute lead before the Seadogs took full control in the second half to stretch their lead at the top of the table to six points.
Ryan Blott struck a hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 29 whilst Tony Hackworth and Jimmy Beadle also found the net.
Second placed Bridlington Town's stuttering form continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Glasshoughton Welfare.
Scott Phillips had given them a 72nd minute lead but Thomas Woollard levelled the scores for the visitors in injury time to take a point from the Neil Hudgell Law Stadium.
Ryan Hall's 86th minute winner kept Brighouse Town in the championship chase as they beat Parkgate, 2-1, at the Dual Seal Stadium.
Barton Town Old Boys and Worksop Parramore both won to move above Thackley into fourth and fifth, respectively, but the gap between them and the top three is perhaps already to big to bridge.
Barton Town were 4-1 victors at Hall Road Rangers whilst Parramore beat hosts Lincoln Moorlands Railway by a single goal.
Winterton Rangers remain bottom of the table despite picking up a point in a 1-1 home draw with Tadcaster Albion, Tom Finnigan's first half injury time strike bringing them level after Nick Thompson had given the Brewers a thirteenth minute lead.
Rangers are now level on points with Arnold Town, who were beaten 3-1 at home by Heanor Town courtesy of a Jason Foster brace, and a point away from Moorlands.
Maltby Main were 4-1 winners over visitors Liversedge whilst Retford United picked up three points as Craig Fisher's stoppage time winner snatched them a 3-2 victory at Pickering Town.
And, there were 1-1 draws for Armthorpe Welfare at home to Nostell Miners Welfare and for Long Eaton United at Staveley Miners Welfare.
Two goals each for Lee Bennett, Steve Bennett and Jason Bentley helped Athersley Recreation extend their lead at the top of Division One to five points as they won 7-1 at home to Yorkshire Amateur.
Albion Sports are their closest rivals, beating the side who started the day in second spot, Shirebrook Town, at the Horsfall Stadium.
Karl Hall struck twice whilst Alex Cusack also got on the scoresheet as the visitors dropped to fifth as a result of their defeat.
Knaresborough Town are up into third after Craig Heard's double secured a 2-1 home victory over Rossington Main and Cleethorpes Town stay fourth following their 1-1 draw at Bottesford Town.
Ashley Flynn got another two goals - the second in injury time - to make it 34 for the campaign for him and keep AFC Emley in the race for silverware with a 2-1 defeat of visitors Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Basement side Selby Town's woes continued with a 2-1 home loss to Hemsworth Miners Welfare and they are now thirteen points adrift of next-to-bottom Appleby Frodingham who won 2-0 at Grimsby Borough.
Hallam have climbed one place to fifteenth after their 7-1 win at Askern Villa, Aaron Moxam and Chris Getliff with two each whilst there were also goals for James Cook, Conor Sellars and Adam Carter.
Teversal were 2-0 winners over Dinnington Town at Carnarvon Street whilst Pontefract Collieries were also home victors, 3-1 against Louth Town.
And, the spoils were shared at the Lido Ground as Clipstone Welfare and Eccleshill United played out a 1-1 draw.
