Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #27
10th November, 2013
Tadcaster Albion have extended their lead at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table with a 2-0 home victory over Liversedge on Saturday.
The Brewers' nineteenth consecutive league win came courtesy of Danny Critchlow's opener towards the end of the first period and Nick Thompson's penalty in the 80th minute.
It meant that they took full advantage of the fact that none of the other sides in the top four at the start of play were in league action.
Retford United climbed up into fourth, coming from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Garforth Town with Richard Medcalf securing the point late on.
The Badgers go above Bridlington Town who won 3-1 at Reckitts AFC in the Second Round of the East Riding Senior Cup, Joel Sutton, Chris Jenkinson and James Bennett with the goals.
Ryan Cooper and Johnny Slater found the net for Barton Town Old Boys as their 2-0 victory at Basford United moved them into the top six, ahead of Athersley Recreation who went down 2-1 at home to Worksop Parramore with Nathan Forbes-Swindells' winner coming in the 88th minute.
Next-to-bottom Lincoln Moorlands Railway's woes continued as they were beaten 8-0 by visitors Staveley Miners Welfare with two strikes each for Sam Finlay, Matthew Thorpe and Jake Vernon amongst the goals.
It means that Moorlands now have a goal difference of -74 after just twenty games.
There were 3-1 home victories for Glasshoughton Welfare and Heanor Town against Winterton Rangers and Armthorpe Welfare, respectively.
Daniel Facey's double proved to be enough for Albion Sports as they won 3-2 at home to Pickering Town and Blaine Hancock got both of Long Eaton United's goals in a 2-0 victory at Maltby Main.
There was a remarkable goal-scoring achievement in Division One as Aaron Moxam scored seven of Shirebrook Town's twelve without reply at home to Appleby Frodingham.
Shirebrook climb to twelfth in the table whilst App-Frod drop into the bottom two, going below Dinnington Town who go up a place despite losing 7-2 at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Scott Turner with a hat-trick for the hosts.
Marcus Edwards scored five of Eccleshill United's goals as they won 7-1 at Rossington Main and Eccleshill stay in fifth spot, a point behind Worsbrough who are fourth.
In fact, none of the top five lost with third-placed Bottesford Town only dropping points, drawing 2-2 at home with Teversal as Luke Anderson got them a late equaliser.
Darren Hanslip's 74th minute strike saw leaders Cleethorpes Town win 2-1 at home to Clipstone and they stay three points ahead of Shaw Lane Aquaforce who defeated hosts Hallam, 4-0, with all their goals coming in the final quarter of the game.
Pontefract Collieries are up into the top six with a 3-1 home victory over Grimsby Borough ahead of AFC Emley who were beaten 2-1 at Knaresborough Town.
Louth Town remain bottom of the table after being beaten 3-1 by visitors Dronfield Town, the same scoreline befalling Hemsworth Miners Welfare at home to Selby Town.
And, Glenn Wood's injury time winner earned all three points for Yorkshire Amateur as they beat hosts Hall Road Rangers, 3-2.
