Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #39

22nd December, 2013

Barton Town Old Boys and Cleethorpes Town top the Toolstation Northern Counties East League tables at Christmas after the leaders of both divisions ahead of Saturday's games both lost at home.

Barton take over at the summit of the Premier Division following their 3-1 win at Athersley Recreation, Gareth Barlow's two second-half goals helping them to the victory that puts them above Tadcaster Albion who went down to a single goal at home to Albion Sports.

Liam Ormsby's strike just before the hour mark ensured three points for Sports who climb into third spot, ten points behind the top two but with three games in hand.

Basford United are fourth after their 4-1 home victory over Thackley with three goals in the last twelve minutes from Blair Anderson, Martin Holt and Tyeisse Nightingale sealing the points.

Pickering Town are up into seventh after they won 5-3 at Garforth Town whilst Kieran Debrouwer netted four times to take his season's tally to 35 in Heanor Town's 8-1 victory at Lincoln Moorlands Railway to move the Lions up to ninth.

But, top scorer of the day was Worksop Parramore's Lee Whittington who netted six times, two from the penalty spot, in their 8-0 win at home to Glasshoughton Welfare.

Dominic Riordan struck twice for Liversedge as they beat hosts Maltby Main, 3-0, and Armthorpe Welfare enjoyed a 4-0 victory at Winterton Rangers, Jay Rollins with two of their goals.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce were knocked off top spot in Division One after a dramatic 4-3 defeat at home to Clipstone, Keiron Watson claiming his hat-trick for the visitors in stoppage time to take all three points back to the Worksop Van Hire Stadium.

Cleethorpes took over at the helm as a Marc Cooper hat-trick and a brace from Johnathan Oglesby went a long way to ensuring an 8-0 home victory over Dinnington Town.

Bottesford Town tightened their hold on third spot as they won 2-0 at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Shirebrook Town moved into the top five as they beat bottom side Louth Town, 3-2, at Langwith Road, Aaron Moxam with the winner fourteen minutes from time.
