Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #40

29th December, 2013

Barton Town Old Boys have opened up a three-point gap at the top of Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after their 2-0 home win over Nostell Miners Welfare on Saturday.

Ashley Lattimore and Ryan Cooper got the goals as they took advantage of a free weekend for second-placed Tadcaster Albion to ensure they are leading the pack going into 2014.

Albion Sports started the day in third spot but their 3-1 defeat at home to Basford United saw them drop an incredible six places to ninth, showing how tight the table is behind the top two.

Blair Anderson, Tyeisse Nightingale and Ryan Whitehurst got the goals for Basford that saw them replace their hosts in third whilst Retford United moved up into fourth as Bobby Johnson's 78th minute penalty ensured a 2-1 victory at Bridlington Town.

Thackley, Pickering Town, Brighouse Town and Heanor Town complete the top eight after they all picked up victories.

Nicky Matthews, Chris Davey and Luke Hudson got two goals each in Thackley's 8-1 win at home to struggling Lincoln Moorlands Railway whilst Joe Danby struck twice for Pickering as they beat visitors Maltby Main, 6-1.

Brighouse were 5-1 winners at Armthorpe Welfare with doubles for Tom Matthews and Joe Jagger, and the league's topscorer Kieran Debrouwer's hat-trick helped Heanor to a 5-0 home victory over Winterton Rangers.

There were also fine away wins for Long Eaton United who beat Glasshoughton Welfare, 3-0, Athersley Recreation who defeated Liversedge, 4-0, Garforth Town who were 3-1 victors at Parkgate and Worksop Parramore who prevailed 3-0 at a Staveley Miners Welfare side that included former England midfielder Carlton Palmer in their ranks as a charity fundraiser.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce returned to the top of Division One as Jason Price struck twice on his debut to help them win 4-0 at Teversal.

Second-half goals from Jason Gregory and Daniel Claridge claimed Shirebrook Town a 2-1 win at Knaresborough Town to move the Langwith Road side up into fourth, ahead of Eccleshill United who are now fifth after their 2-0 victory at Appleby Frodingham, Ryan Jones and Ishmeal Mills with their goals.

Adam Wisdom and Matt Austin netted for Clipstone as they won 2-0 at home to Selby Town to lift them into eighth, a point clear of AFC Emley who drew 1-1 with visitors Rossington Main.

Dronfield Town were 3-1 home victors over Hallam whilst hosts Grimsby Borough picked up a single-goal win over Yorkshire Amateur and Bottesford Town won 2-1 at Louth Town.

And, there was a goalless draw for Dinnington Town at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
