Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #68
17th April, 2014
Brighouse Town have moved to within touching distance of claiming the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division crown after their 4-0 home win over bottom side Lincoln Moorlands Railway in midweek.
Tom Matthews opened the scoring on 17 minutes before an Ernest Boafo penalty and James Hurtley strike gave them a comfortable advantage by the interval.
Joe Jagger added the fourth as the game drew towards its end and it means that Brighouse now need just one win from their remaining three matches to be the champions.
Third-placed Barton Town Old Boys kept it still mathematically possible for them to pip Brighouse as they came from behind to beat visitors Bridlington Town, 2-1, Gareth Barlow and Scott Phillips with their goals after Craig Hogg had given the Seasiders a 31st minute lead.
Worksop Parramore climbed into fourth as they won 4-0 at home to Heanor Town, Richard Tootle, Nathan Forbes-Swindells, Sam Smith and Callum Ward netting for them.
They go above Basford United who were beaten 2-0 at Staveley Miners Welfare with goals from Nick Hague and Robbie Start.
Nostell Miners Welfare pulled further away from the bottom two with Matthew Johnson's brace earning them a 2-0 home victory over Thackley, meaning they are now five points above the drop zone with two games to play.
Shaw Lane Aquaforce kept their Division One title challenge going as Shane Kelsey got both of their goals as they beat visitors Hallam, 2-0, to move to three points behind leaders Cleethorpes Town with a game in hand and a far superior goal difference.
Goals in the last ten minutes from Tyson Newell and Ishmeal Mills helped Eccleshill United to a 4-0 home win against Selby Town and they are fifth above Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who won 2-0 against Louth Town, Lee Garside and Adam Podmore on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Nathan Fraser scored Rossington Main's two goals as they picked up three points at Dronfield Town, Nick Horsfield getting a 71st minute consolation in a 2-1 defeat for the home side.
And, Knaresborough Town are through to the Final of the League Cup as the Division One side won 1-0 at Premier Division opponents for the second round running, George Eustance's early strike seeing off Long Eaton United.
