New South Normanton Athletic managers Glyn Stacey and Mark Harvey face the difficult task of rebuilding a club down on its luck.

Over the past three seasons, the Northern Counties East Division One outfit have gone through two changes in management, a new chairman and mass exodus of players.

They struggled for form on the pitch last season and rumours of a rift in the dressing room, which apparently played a part in the exit of former manager Chris Nicholson, have been rife.

But Stacey, who spent more than three years at NCE Premier Division club Long Eaton United, and Harvey, former manager of Sandiacre Town, are looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"Colin Price, South Normanton's new chairman, invited me to the club for a chat over the vacant manager's position," said Stacey.

"Colin really sold the club to me.

"It's a completely different set-up to last season, with new players coming into the club, and that can only be good because the ones they had here last season didn't do too well."

Stacey had been helping friend Harvey with coaching at Sandiacre Town but both had been unhappy for a while.

When Stacey was offered the South Normanton job, he asked Harvey to join him.

"I wanted to bring Mark to South Normanton with me but he had already been offered the vacant manager's job at Heanor Town," said Stacey.

"He had ideas of taking me with him to Heanor so we sat down together and decided which club would suit us best - and we chose South Normanton."
