Shirebrook Town have signed 21-year-old striker Conor Higginson from Evo-Stik First Division South side Rainworth Miners Welfare.Delighted Shirebrook manager Mark Shaw said: "I am pleased to bring a player of Conor's standard to the club. For me it's a major signing. He is a great, talented player who should be playing at a higher level, and he fits in with everything we are trying to do here."

"Conor is a forward that is hungry and wants success, and that is what we need right here, right now to help us push on and win something this season. We need to win our remaining matches and he is the kind of player who can bolster our attacking options and create a chance out of nothing. Me and Peter Shuttleworth have worked with Conor before (at Sheffield FC) and we know just what he can bring to the team," Shaw said.
Ollerton-born Higginson began his career as a 13-year-old in the youth ranks at Mansfield Town, making his first team debut in April 2009 as a 17-year-old against Northwich Victoria. He had successful spells out on loan at Glapwell, before leaving the Stags by mutual consent in July 2011 to sign for Sheffield FC. He began this season at Grantham Town, but left the Gingerbreads to join Rainworth a couple of weeks before last Christmas.
Higginson is available for Shirebrook's home game against Appleby Frodingham this Saturday, and he said: "I'm delighted to be working with Showie (Mark Shaw) and Shutts (Peter Shuttleworth) again and I'm looking forward to trying to help put some silverware on the table for Shirebrook Town. I'll try to score as many goals as I can between now and the end of the season and, hopefully, we'll all be happy come the end of April."
