O'Reilly leaves Ammers dugout

21st August, 2023

Toolstation NCEL Division One basement side Yorkshire Amateur have confirmed that manager Casey O’Reilly has been relieved of his duties.

The Ammers are bottom of the table, having picked up one point from their opening six games with a goal difference of -25.

A statement released by the club said: "The decision made by the board is a reaction to the team’s results to open the season, conscious of the club’s current position in its community hub project. O’Reilly has agreed to an alternate role.

"The new management team will be in place for Saturday’s trip to Athersley Recreation, to be announced shortly.

"O’Reilly’s tenure began in January this year, promoted from the club’s U21s and joining Jake Boyd as co-manager.

"O’Reilly took sole charge for a series of last season’s remaining fixtures, indicating a positive change in performances of an all-but relegated side, notably including victory against an in-form Hallam FC, despite The Ammers ultimately failing to avoid the drop.

"Gaining just a single point from the opening six games, and a significantly weaker goal difference, the decision has been made to change management.

"O’Reilly has been reallocated a role within the club’s project, assisting the board."
