Forgione stands down at Briggers

19th September, 2023

Luke Forgione has stepped down from his role as manager of Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, the Toolstation NCEL Division One side have announced.

In a statement released on Monday evening, club chairman Mark Booth said: "We are deeply disappointed and upset that Luke has felt the need to take this decision but fully respect his reasons.

"I want to place on record my thanks and admiration to Luke for the job he has done over nearly three years.

"He has presided over a period at the club that has included COVID-19, our centenary year with a trip to Germany and the memorable return visit this summer from FC Normannia and FC Bargau.

"Many people don't see the sacrifices made by managers and staff - it is often forgotten just how much time and hard work is required to manage a team at this level.

"On a personal level, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Luke and I am sure, in time, he will be back in the game he loves.

"The club will take time to assess the next steps and I want to reiterate its thanks to Fudge for over nearly three years with the Briggers and wish him and his family all the best for the future."
