Morris returns as Briggers boss

27th September, 2023

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic have announced that Lee Morris has returned to the Toolstation NCEL Division One club to be their manager.

He succeeds Luke Forgione who took over when Morris stepped down from the role in October 2020 but left the position earlier this month.

Morris had most recently been the boss and chairman at league rivals Armthorpe Welfare before his departure in August.

The statement from the Briggers said that "some exceptional candidates" had applied for the role and wanted "to thank everyone for their time and interest in the club."

Chairman Mark Booth added: "This has been the most intense and difficult decision during my period at the club.

"I have spent many hours and a few sleepless nights making the decision which the board and I think is right for the club.

"Lee, in his first spell, took the club to a seventh place finish and reached the semi-final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup before COVID-19 locked down the country.

"Since that spell, Lee improved Armthorpe, finishing just a point short of a play-off spot last season.

"I know, from long discussions, that he is excited by the quality within the squad and is looking forward to working with them and helping them to continue to fulfil their potential.

"I would now ask everyone to come together and trust in the vision for the future.

"I have always acted in the best interests of the club, its supporters, the players and we hope that, together under Lee's management, we can continue to make positive steps forward."
