Sutton Town's new manager Lee Wilson has urged the area's leading local players not to be afraid to join the Snipes.

Wilson took over during the close season when the Northern Counties East League Premier Divison club was turned on its head by a change of ownership.

But he believes the effects of what had gone before may be putting prospective players off from joining.

Wilson said that some potential new arrivals were nervous after the club almost collapsed last season with some players remaining unpaid.

But he insisted: "The club is now financially better off than it has ever been.

"This club is now properly run by the new consortium, both on and off the pitch.

"The club is in good hands and going in the right direction, and the members of the consortium have put in the resources necessary.

"This is a club that players should now want to join."
