Liversedge started their pre-season campaign with a storming display against a top side, which featured a hat-trick for their debutant striker in a 3-3 draw.

According to Liversedge manager Eugene Lacy, his side totally dominated Conference North side Farsley Celtic and were unlucky to let their 3-1 lead slip in the last 20 minutes.

The highlight for Sedge was a hat-trick for former Huddersfield League player, Ryan Buckley.

It bodes well for Liversedge who are eager to follow up their second place in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division last season.

After the disappointment of not being able to take up their promotion place in Unibond League, the first team players and manager pledged their futures to Liversedge.

Only two fringe players have left the club. They are Jermaine Manners who has gone to Garforth, while Wes Milnes played for Buxton last Saturday but has not yet signed for them.

Lacy, meanwhile, is looking at a central defender formerly with Farsley.

The ambition of the club on the pitch and the constant search for players by Lacy and his staff has been matched by the committee.

Lacy said: "The committee has not had a rest, they have worked tirelessly and the ground looks like a building site but it tells you something is going on."
