Armthorpe Welfare may be handed a reprieve in the FA Cup.

They were beaten 2-0 by Blackpool Mechanics on Saturday, but it has emerged that the Lancashire side could be thrown out of the competition.

Craig Worthington, who scored their second goal at the weekend, played whilst under suspension.

The club and player say they were unaware of the 7-day ban he had picked up at his former club, Padiham.

He also took part in a North West Counties League game for Mechanics last week when he should have been on the sidelines.

There will be a hearing at Soho Square next Tuesday (29th August), where Armthorpe may be reinstated for a Preliminary Round trip to Maine Road the following Saturday.
