Retford United's top scorer Neil Harvey stepped into the breach and played IN GOAL for the Badgers in yesterday's 1-0 win over Pickering Town.

United keeper Chris Kingston was stuck in traffic in Leeds and was not able to get to the game.

Harvey, who had scored four goals for Retford eight days earlier against Tadcaster Albion, stepped in.

Gloves were purchased from a local sports shop only around an hour before kick off.

And, much to the delight of the home fans, Harvey played well and reacted well when called upon.

A Vill Powell penalty in the 40th minute settled it in front of a crowd of 202, but Harvey must be praised for his performance, the only time a striker is praised for not scoring - or even having a shot at goal!
