Glapwell's squad has been boosted again with two significant signings.

33-year-old central defender Craig Gaunt signed last Tuesday from UniBond Premier Division outfit Ilkeston Town, who he had joined for a second spell from Leigh RMI in December 2004.

A player with bags of experience, he initially joined the Robins in 1997 but was originally a product of the FA's Centre of Excellence at Lilleshall and had spells with Arsenal, Huddersfield Town and Scarborough.

However, he never really made his mark, but moved on to find success in senior non-league football at Bromsgrove Rovers and Kettering Town.

He left Ilkeston after making only a handful of appearances to play in Singapore with Woodlands Wellington, but returned to have successful spells with Chester City and Hucknall Town before signing for the Railwaymen in June 2004.

20-year-old striker Ian Brown put pen to paper on Friday after being released this week by Hucknall Town, where he had struggled to break into the first team after joining them during the summer.

Before that, he had had three very successful seasons in amongst the goals at Sutton Town and, in joining Glapwell, renews his previous association with boss McJannet who first took him to the Snipes from the Mansfield Town Academy in 2003.

News of Brown's release by Hucknall caused a stir of interest amongst local clubs, but Glapwell were very pleased to secure his signature in the end despite nine other clubs chasing him, including two other NCEL Premier Division rivals, Sutton Town and Carlton Town.

Both players went straight into the starting line-up for Glapwell's 2-0 home win over Selby Town on Saturday.

And, Brown made an immediate impact as he scored the opener after just ten seconds.
