Retford United have announced the signing of Ritchie Lopez, a player who can play on the right or left of midfield and as a centre forward.

Lopez signed from Northern Counties side Hallam FC after previous spells with Sheffield United and Northampton Town.

After leaving Northampton, Lopez had a spell away at University before joining Hallam.

Manager Mark Shaw is delighted to have captured the player, saying: "This shows our commitment to bringing in top quality players. Ritchie is a great signing for us, as he has an ability to play in so many different positions."

Lopez was impressed by the club and said: "The Manager sold the club to me, and I was impressed with what I saw. I can't wait to start playing".

Ritchie joined the squad for training on Thursday evening and Badgers fans will have to wait to see if he makes the squad for the game against Sheffield on Saturday.
