Liversedge are hopeful of having their new manager in place in time for their next home game on Saturday January 13th against Mickleover Sports.

There has been plenty of interest in the vacancy but the process of interviewing applicants has been hampered by the Christmas and New Year break.

The departure of former boss Eugene Lacy saw the club suffer a setback in that virtually the whole of the senior squad followed him.

This left temporary managers Mark Brier and Simon Wood fielding sides at Hallam and Maltby Main made up of Academy players with an average age of a fraction over 19.

The one senior player to definitely stay, defender Matt Sparkes, was not surprisingly made team captain despite only being 21.

And the club say that the youngsters turned in excellent performances despite 0-1 and 0-3 scorelines respectively.
