Plans for a move to new premises on the outskirts of town for Selby Town are expected to be approved shortly.

However, there have been complaints from other local football teams who feel they will lose out as a result, according to the Selby Times.

It is understood that Sport England, the national sports body who had opposed the plans on similar grounds, have now withdrawn their objection, paving the way for Selby Town's much anticipated move.

Three local teams who currently use the pitches at Denison Road, where the new stadium is to be built, have been informed that they must vacate the facilities by July, when building work is due to start.

They are Selby RSSC, Station FC and Abbey Vaults, who will all now have to find alternative premises and are not happy with what's on offer.

Robins secretary Tommy Arkley said the club had not yet been officially informed of arrangements but were willing to do all they can to help the teams affected.

Their Flaxley Road premises are set to make way for housing development, subject to planning approval, with the expected ?3 million-plus proceeds paying for state-of-the-art facilities at Denison Road.
