Patterson Signs for Parras
5th July, 2013
Worksop Parramore have announced the capture of Danny Patterson who has signed from Evo-Stik League side Ossett Town.
Patterson successfully captained Handsworth to an NCEL league and cup double two seasons ago then made the switch to Ossett Town where he quickly established himself as a firm favourite with his excellent displays last season.
Parras Manager, Russ Eagle, and Club Development Manager, Steve Holmes, made Patterson one of their key summer targets and, with the excellent backing from Chairman Pete Whitehead, secured the signature of one of non-league's hottest properties.
Holmes said today: "Securing Danny was vital to our evolution as a club. It states our intentions for this season and beyond, and I'm so pleased that Danny has seen the potential of this club and that he turned down many clubs higher up the pyramid to join us here at Sandy Lane.
"Ossett really didn't want to lose such a talent but, in the end, the lure of reacquainting himself with Russ matched with Pete's ambitious plans, Danny came home!"
Eagle who immediately installed Patterson as his captain said: "Danny is a winner, a captain, and the kingpin of my plans. I'm so pleased Danny will be leading out the Amber & Blacks next year, he's an ambitious player who wants to progress. Parramore can and will match his ambitions."
Chairman Pete Whitehead said of the Patterson capture: "Danny was one of Russ's major targets and I'm so pleased Danny has bought into my vision and plans for the club, and to sign an established Evo-Stik player of Danny's calibre clearly shows our intentions."
29 year old Midfielder Patterson , who has previously played for Ossett Town, Handsworth, Parkgate, Thackley, Hallam and Maltby joined up with his new teammates and said of his move: "I Joined Parras because I was very impressed with Pete's vision for the club and where they want to be and how ambitious the club is as a whole. Also, linking up with Russ was a big factor - he knows how to win leagues and make teams successful."
He added: "I think this coming season will be a long one but, with the existing squad we have and also the impressive new signings that we have made, we should be aiming for challenging for the league title and achieving promotion to the Evo-Stik. It won't be easy as it's a very tough league as everyone knows, but we have the players so it's up to us really."
