Holmes and Hamlet Join Nostell

16th September, 2013

Darren Holmes has taken over as the new manager of Toolstation NCEL Premier Division's basement side Nostell Miners Welfare in time for Tuesday?s home fixture with Glasshoughton Welfare.

Gareth Hamlet will be his assistant manager as the pair look to turn around the fortunes of a side who have lost all nine of their opening league matches.

A statement from the club said: "The partnership have been in charge of Ossett Albion Reserves, finishing runners-up in the Lancashire League in 2010/11 and then winning the title last season.

"Darren and Gareth wanted the challenge of first team management and hope to continue their success at Nostell, hopefully turning the fortunes of the Welfare's dreadful start to the present campaign.

"The club's management would like to thank outgoing Mark Greaves for all his time and effort as assistant manager and, of late, caretaker manager and wish him all the best for the future."
