Kenny and Helliwell take charge of Vikings

24th October, 2023

Former Premier League keeper Paddy Kenny and Nathan Helliwell have been announced as the new joint managers of Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Goole AFC.

The pair take over from Mike Carmody who departed as Vikings boss after last week's 8-0 home loss to Frickley Athletic left them in seventeenth position in the table.

A statement released by the club on Tuesday afternoon said: "Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who applied for the position of first team manager.

"Due to the high number of applicants, the club committee met over the weekend to evaluate each application and put together a shortlist for interviews.

"Following a long day of interviews throughout Monday, we are now in a position to announce Paddy Kenny and Nathan Helliwell as our new joint management team.

"Paddy and Nathan will be announcing their backroom team in due course."

Barford takes on Great North Run challenge

28th August, 2023

Goole AFC goalkeeper Jody Barford will be raising money for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young for the sixth time when he takes on the Great North Run next month.

The Vikings shot-stopper is no stranger to the event that will be taking place this year on Sunday 10th September, 2023 that he also runs in memory of his mum, Linda.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) aims to raise awareness that every week in the UK at least twelve apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

By supporting CRY, you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions - see how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk.

All at the Toolstation NCEL wish Jody the best in the event and if you would like to donate to Jody's fundraiser, then please click here to be taken to his JustGiving page.
