GoFundMe page set up for Jakob's family

15th April, 2024

Wakefield AFC have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family of a supporter who passed away following a medical emergency at one of their games last week.

Organiser, club COO Emma Ayrton, said: "Wakefield AFC want to help support the family in raising funds for Jakob’s funeral costs.

"Jakob was a Wakefield AFC fan supporting the team home and away over the last few years.

"Unfortunately, Jakob passed away after collapsing during our county cup Semi-Final on Thursday evening against Pontefract Collieries.

"We would be grateful for all donations, however large or small, all funds raised will be passed to Jakob's family.

"Let's do what we can in supporting them."

Mozzini departs from Wakefield AFC

20th March, 2024

Wakefield AFC have announced that Gabe Mozzini is no longer the manager of the Toolstation NCEL Division One title challengers.

The surprise announcement came on Wednesday evening less than 24 hours after an 8-2 home victory over Retford FC had moved them up to second in the table, three points behind leaders Shirebrook Town with five games to play.

A statement released by the club that also revealed Mozzini's successor read: "Wakefield AFC today announces that Gabe Mozzini is being released from his responsibilities as the First Team manager.

"We express our deepest gratitude to Gabe for his invaluable contribution to the club over the past two years.

"He has done much more than being a manager and his dedication and hard work have been pivotal for our growth on and off the pitch. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

"We are also excited to announce the appointment of Junior Roberti as the new first team manager.

"Junior has a great football mind, has a brilliant relationship with players and fans and brings a fresh perspective and approach to the club.

"Junior has full support from the board, players and staff at Wakefield AFC and we ask our fans to join us in welcoming Junior Roberti to the club and to show their continued support as we enter a crucial phase of the season."
