The Toolstation Northern Counties East Football League is in mourning following the death of former chairman Tom Dixon this week.

Tom had been part of the league since its inception in 1982 to when he announced his retirement in 2009, bringing to an end seventy years of service to local grassroots football.

Before his time with the NCEL, he was also on the management board of the Yorkshire League and had also been a linesman and referee.

His funeral will take place at St. Mary's Church, Selby, on Wednesday 12th November at 10:30am followed by a get-together at Selby Bowling Club.

The NCEL would like to send its deepest condolences to Tom's friends and family.
