NCEL quartet at Seniors World Cup
3rd June, 2019
The England Seniors squad is in Thailand this week looking to win the World Cup for the fourth consecutive year, with the Toolstation NCEL well represented.
Newly-appointed Emley AFC joint manager Mark Wilson and assistant Steve Nicholson are part of the line-up along with new Eccleshill United gaffer Lee Elam whilst Garforth Town assistant boss Mark Smitheringale also deputises in the England dugout.
The squad, consisting of ex-pros and semi-pros still playing regularly with a desire to represent their country, flew out last week to acclimatise at a three-day coastal camp ahead of a gruelling tournament that sees five games in six days with matches split between two venues in Bangkok - the National Stadium and Thepsakin Stadium.
During their stay, the team will also be visiting local schools who will go on to support England as mascots and perform the national anthem.
There is also a day set aside before the knock-out games where the whole squad are involved in coaching under privileged children.
Good luck to all of our representatives and the whole England squad in the tournament.
