Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #15
28th September, 2014
The Toolstation NCEL's final representative in this year's FA Cup with Budweiser bowed out of the competition but can hold their heads high as they were beaten narrowly by a side three divisions above them.
In fact, Cleethorpes Town took the lead in the 30th minute through Jack Barlow at home to Vanarama Conference North outfit North Ferriby United but an unfortunate own goal from Lawrence Heward quickly brought the scores level and Nathan Jarman struck the winner in a 2-1 victory for the visitors early in the second period.
Tadcaster Albion are the new leaders of the Premier Division after a comfortable 3-0 home victory against Liversedge, Josh Greening continuing his fantastic scoring run with their opener on 29 minutes before George Bissett gave them a two-goal advantage by the interval and Callum Ward got their third midway through the second half.
Joe Thornton's 87th minute winner earned Shaw Lane Aquaforce a 2-1 win at Albion Sports to move them up into second spot, ahead of Worksop Town and Heanor Town who drop to third and fourth, respectively, after their 1-1 draw at the Town Ground.
Adie Hawes had given Heanor a 21st minute lead but Jonathan Wafula restored parity before the break for the visitors to make sure the spoils were shared.
The teams in fifth and sixth position are now six points behind the top four after they both tasted defeat, Handsworth Parramore beaten 3-2 at home by Pickering Town whilst Athersley Recreation went down by the same scoreline at Barton Town Old Boys, Scott Phillips with the vital strike for the hosts on 82 minutes.
Nostell Miners Welfare remain stranded at the bottom of the table after their 2-0 loss at Bridlington Town, Alex Knaggs and Tom Chippendale with a goal in each half for the Seasiders.
Nostell are joined in the bottom two by Armthorpe Welfare who were beaten 2-1 by their hosts, Glasshoughton Welfare, who leapfrog over them out of the relegation zone.
Kyle Sambrook's opener and an Andy Walkden own goal had Glasshoughton two goals ahead by the sixteenth minute and, although Adam Lee pulled one back for Armthorpe in the second period, it was the home side who would enjoy the victory.
There were away wins for Staveley Miners Welfare, 2-1 at Maltby Main, and for Parkgate, 1-0 at Retford United, whilst there was a 1-1 draw for Garforth Town at Thackley.
In Division One, the top two have pulled away from the rest with home victories.
Alex Hallam's 54th minute strike was the only goal of the game in leaders AFC Emley's win over Penistone Church whilst Clipstone made it eight wins out of eight as goals from Steve Carty and Matt Austin secured a 2-0 triumph over Knaresborough Town.
Pontefract Collieries started the day in third position but they lost ground as an injury-time winner from Joel Hughes saw them beaten 2-1 at Yorkshire Amateur.
Lincoln Moorlands Railway and Eccleshill United go above them, five points behind the early pacesetters, following away wins.
Josh Bowden and Craig Bridge netted in Railway's 2-0 victory at Bottesford Town and second half goals from James Voissey and Adam McCabe helped Eccleshill to their 4-2 beating of Teversal.
Hallam stay in the basement without a point as a Leighton Mathewson brace for Hall Road Rangers went a long way to claiming a 3-1 win for his side.
Dronfield Town stay twentieth despite picking up their first victory of the season, Nick Horsfield with an 80th minute winner as they beat visitors Rossington Main, 1-0.
Biggest winners on the day were Shirebrook Town who are up into the ninth spot with a 4-0 victory at Selby Town, Liam Morris' late double proving the icing on the cake after goals from Craig Getliff and Keiron Watson.
Andrew Broadbent's second goal of the afternoon, in the 88th minute, was the winner for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic as they won 4-3 at home to Winterton Rangers and there was a 2-2 draw between Louth Town and Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
