Toolstation NCEL match review 2014/15 #17
6th October, 2014
Nine Toolstation NCEL sides booked their place in the First Round Proper of the FA Carlsberg Vase with wins at the weekend.
The biggest victors were Heanor Town and Cleethorpes Town who both progressed thanks to 6-1 scorelines.
Kieran Wells bagged a hat-trick for Heanor at home to Holwell Sports whilst the league's top goalscorer last season, Kieran Debrouwer, also got on the scoresheet following his return from injury.
Jack Richardson netted three times as well for Cleethorpes as they convincingly won at Radcliffe Olympic.
Another hat-trick hero was Dean Rick as AFC Mansfield went through with a 4-1 victory at Holbrook Sports and there were two goals each for Daniel Gray and Nathan Kamara as Selby Town defeated visitors Bacup & Rossendale Borough, 4-2.
There were away wins for Shaw Lane Aquaforce, Yorkshire Amateur and AFC Emley with George Conway's 27th minute strike being the only goal of the game in Aquaforce's match at Ashton Athletic.
Dempsey Smith, Harrison Blakey and Eddy Danku got on the scoresheet for the Ammers at Billingham Town whilst Antony Brown and Ryan Brook saw Emley through, 2-0 at Widnes Vikings.
An injury time penalty from Terry Barwick earned Bottesford Town a 2-1 victory at home to Rochdale Town and an extra-time winner from Daniel Varley saw Winterton Rangers go into the draw for the next round at the expense of league rivals Worsbrough Bridge Athletic by a single goal.
The other all-NCEL tussle will require a replay after Dronfield Town were held to a 3-3 draw by Maltby Main.
Sadly, this season's Vase adventure ended for Albion Sports, Armthorpe Welfare, Athersley Recreation, Clipstone, Garforth Town, Hall Road Rangers, Hallam, Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Lincoln Moorlands Railway, Liversedge, Louth Town, Nostell Miners Welfare, Pickering Town, Retford United and Rossington Main who all tasted defeat.
In the Premier Division, the two top three sides who were in league action were both beaten 2-1 with leaders Tadcaster Albion going down at Staveley Miners Welfare.
Ellis Wall struck twice for the hosts on 65 and 74 minutes before Matthew Sparkes pulled one back for the Brewers.
However, third-placed Worksop Town could not replace them at the top as an 86th minute winner for Jarrod Smalley saw Bridlington Town take all three points from the Windsor Foodservice Stadium.
Staveley climb to sixth spot, ahead of Bridlington and Barton Town Old Boys who are up to eighth after goals from Scott Phillips, Joel Sutton and Ashley Lattimore earned them a 3-1 home victory over Parkgate.
And, two goals each from Mike Garrod and Thomas Dugdale helped Thackley to a 5-0 defeat of Glasshoughton Welfare to move them up into thirteenth.
The only movers in Division One were Teversal who went up two places to seventeenth as David Cockerill and Jason Dawson struck in a 2-1 victory at Knaresborough Town.
Eccleshill United stay in third spot despite a 3-1 defeat at Shirebrook Town, Keiron Watson with a second-half brace for the home side, and two goals each for John Waugh and David Deane saw Grimsby Borough win 4-2 at Penistone Church.
