Toolstation NCEL match review 2014/15 #26
6th November, 2014
Heanor Town are through to the Second Round of the FA Carlsberg Vase having won their replay in midweek.
Gary Ricketts and Martk Strzyzewski had the Lions 2-0 up at home to AFC Wulfrunians before Kieran Debrouwer ensured the victory with their third early in the second period.
Sadly, Bottesford Town could not join them as they went down 2-1 at Ryhope Colliery Welfare, Danny Boulton's strike bringing them level in the 52nd minute but the hosts quickly restored their lead to progress.
There was also plenty of County Cup action, starting with a dramatic Lincolnshire Senior Trophy Third Round clash on Monday between Cleethorpes Town and Louth Town.
Steve Norton scored on 52 minutes for the Division One visitors who looked to be on the verge of causing an upset when their Premier Division opponents equalised late on through Liam Dickens and it Cleethorpes who went through 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out.
On Tuesday, there were six Third Round ties in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup with Danny Critchlow scoring a hat-trick in a 4-2 home victory for Handsworth Parramore over Toolstation NCEL rivals Hallam.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic progressed 4-2 on penalties after an 81st minute equaliser from Joe Jackson saw their match at Rossington Main finish 1-1.
Two each for Matthew Semly, Mark Simpson and Jermaine Moyce helped Nostell Miners Welfare to a 7-2 victory at home to Joker, Hemsworth Miners Welfare needed extra-time to beat visitors Shelley 3-0 with Nicholas Guest getting a brace, and early strikes from Gary Hibbert and Anthony Mackie proved enough for Maltby Main as they claimed a 2-1 home win over Swinton Athletic.
But, Worksop Town are surprisingly out after losing 2-1 at Swallownest Miners Welfare, a side two divisions below the Tigers in the National League System.
Matt Bilney netted all three goals for Thackley in their 3-0 win at home to Pontefract Collieries, one of four West Riding County Cup Second Round games played on Tuesday.
Tadcaster Albion came from a goal down with fifteen minutes remaining to win 3-1 against visitors Liversedge, Garforth Town defeated hosts Armthorpe Welfare 2-0 but Albion Sports went down by the same scoreline at Vanarama Conference North side Harrogate Town.
And, on Wednesday, Dronfield Town bowed out of the Derbyshire Senior Cup at the First Round stage with a 3-0 defeat at home to Belper United.
In the three Tuesday Division One games, Shirebrook Town are up to seventh after a 6-2 win over visitors Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
They were 2-1 down at the interval but Keiron Watson and Aaron Moxam gave them the lead by the hour mark before Jamie York scored his second of the night and Liam Morris and Matthew Thompson completed the victory.
Shirebrook remain a point clear of near neighbours AFC Mansfield who won 3-2 at Grimsby Borough, two goals for Luke Fanthorpe were not enough for the hosts who are bottom of the table.
And, Knaresborough Town climb one place to fifteenth after Rob Mortimer's injury-time winner in a 2-1 victory at Winterton Rangers.
