Toolstation NCEL match review 2014/15 #29
16th November, 2014
All of the top four sides in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division won on a Saturday once again disrupted by bad weather.
Tadcaster Albion stay nine points clear at the summit but they needed two late penalties from Liam Ormsby to snatch a 2-1 home win against Albion Sports who had taken the lead through Alex Cusack on 78 minutes.
A Matt Thornhill brace helped Tadcaster's closest rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce to a 3-1 victory at Bridlington Town whilst Heanor Town stay third after their 5-0 win at home to bottom side Glasshoughton Welfare.
Matt Richards and Kieran Debrouwer gave the Lions a two goal advantage by the interval before Adie Hawes added a third on 65 minutes, an own goal made it 4-0 and the fifth came from Ross Henshaw late on.
And, fourth-placed Worksop Town won 2-0 at home to Handsworth Parramore as the two Windsor Foodservice Stadium sides met for the first time this season, Jonathan Wafula and Conor Higginson with the goals in an eight minute period at the start of the second half.
A Brody Robertson hat-trick helped Cleethorpes Town up into sixth spot with a 5-1 triumph over visitors Maltby Main, going above Barton Town Old Boys and Albion Sports.
Barton were involved in a dramatic 4-4 draw at Parkgate, Adam Stapleford-Jones' hat-trick for the hosts not enough for victory as an own goal from Daniel Abdulla in stoppage time saw the visitors grab a point.
The bottom two are now five points adrift as next-to-bottom Nostell Miners Welfare were beaten 2-1 at home by the side just above them, Armthorpe Welfare, Anthony Ryan and Joe Lumsden putting the visitors two goals up before Dene Dewing pulled one back for the hosts.
And, there were 1-0 victories for Garforth Town at home to Athersley Recreation and for Thackley at Retford United.
With none of the top three in action in Division One, Penistone Church took advantage to win 4-3 at home to AFC Mansfield to climb to within touching distance of the leading trio in fourth.
Having fallen behind to a Nathan Benger opener on fourteen minutes, they quickly levelled through a Lewis Dickinson penalty but it was the Bulls who had a half-time advantage thanks to a Joe Naylor goal.
However, Penistone took control in the second period with a Kyle Ludlow own goal and then strikes from Dickinson and Tom Jones putting them 4-2 up before Scott Rickards got a late third for the visitors.
Shirebrook Town are now seventh after a 5-0 home victory over basement side Grimsby Borough, Kieron Watson, Scott Hartley, Jamie York, Matthew Plant and William Dennis with the goals.
They stay ahead of Bottesford Town who move up to eighth with a 3-1 win at Winterton Rangers as second half goals from Lee Ridley and Danny Boulton secured the three points.
Louth Town were 5-3 winners at Teversal with Matt Kennedy netting two for the visitors, Knaresborough Town won 2-1 at Rossington Main and the spoils were shared at Park Road as Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Yorkshire Amateur drew 1-1.
Five games were postponed, one in the Premier Division and four in Division One, whilst the Division One game between Hallam and Dronfield Town was abandoned on 38 minutes due to fog with the score goalless.
