Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #43

15th January, 2015

There is no let up in the race for the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title with all three of the top four sides in action in midweek winning.

Tadcaster Albion still head the rest by five points following their 2-0 home victory over Parkgate, Josh Greening's third minute strike - his 24th goal of the season - added to by a late second for Carl Stewart.

Second-placed Cleethorpes Town had a more difficult task but got the win they craved as they beat visitors Barton Town Old Boys, 4-3.

Jonathan Oglesby's opener and a Marc Cooper penalty had them two goals ahead after just seventeen minutes but Scott Phillips halved the deficit by the break and Ashley Lattimore levelled matters early in the second period.

But, Cooper popped up for his second of the night and his 26th of the campaign to restore their lead and Brody Robertson made sure of the win with Cleethorpe's fourth in stoppage time although Barton still had time to get a third with a Lattimore spot kick.

Worksop Town have moved up into third with a hard fought 1-0 victory at fellow title-chasers Staveley Miners Welfare, a Brad Jones own goal on the half-hour mark separating the sides at Inkersall Road.

The top three clash in Division One between Pontefract Collieries and AFC Emley ended in a goalless draw so Emley stay top, three points ahead of their hosts and Clipstone.

AFC Mansfield zoomed up into fifth with a 2-0 home win over Eccleshill United, Phil Buxton and Craig Mitchell with the goals, and Hallam put more daylight between themselves and next-to-bottom Dronfield Town by beating them 4-1 at home with Jake Wright getting a hat-trick.

Garforth Town progressed to the Fourth Round of the League Cup as Tawanda Rupere and Jason Davis helped the Premier Division side to a 2-0 victory at their Division One hosts and the Miners will now go to either Worsbrough Bridge Athletic or Hallam for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

And, Clipstone and Retford United are through to the Semi-Finals of the Notts Senior Cup following home victories.

Jamie Smith and Ryan Damms netted for Clipstone in their 2-0 win over Ruddington Village whilst Retford overcame a plucky Hucknall Rolls Leisure side with a 6-3 triumph, Ben Muirhead with a hat-trick for the Badgers who scored three times in the last five minutes to go through.
