Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #64
2nd April, 2015
Shaw Lane Aquaforce are up to second in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division as they closed the gap to leaders Worksop Town to five points with three games in hand in midweek.
The Ducks won 4-0 at Athersley Recreation on Wednesday with an own goal from Scott Alcock opening the scoring on five minutes before Sam Denton doubled their lead just prior to the interval and there were strikes from Anton Foster and Gary Stohrer in the second period.
The two other games that evening saw Garforth Town and Albion Sports pick up victories.
A Mark Simpson brace helped Garforth to a 3-0 win at Staveley Miners Welfare with Luke Mangham also getting on the scoresheet for the Miners whilst there were doubles for Alex Cusack and Daniel Facey in Sports' 5-2 home triumph over Liversedge.
Tuesday saw a number of matches postponed after stormy weather hit the NCEL region.
Brett Bowden-Lovell's hat-trick spurred Penistone Church on to a 4-1 win at Knaresborough Town in the only Division One game that went ahead.
In the Premier Division, bottom side Glasshoughton Welfare went down to a 1-0 loss at home to Parkgate, Adam Stapleford-Jones settling the contest in the second minute, and it means that the Leeds Road side remain fifteen points from safety with six games left to play.
Tadcaster Albion have joined Handsworth Parramore in the Semi-Finals of the League Cup after the Brewers won 4-1 at Division One side Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
Josh Schofield put the hosts ahead on 25 minutes giving a hint of a shock against their Premier Division visitors but Andrew Milne and Tom Claisse gave Tadcaster a first-half lead before David Brown and Callum Ward made sure of their progression after the interval.
Handsworth, meanwhile, suffered disappointment in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Evo-Stik League side Frickley Athletic in their Semi-Final tie.
