Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2018/19 #20

14th October, 2018

Non League Day saw six Toolstation NCEL sides progress to the Second Round of the Buildbase FA Vase whilst Yorkshire Amateur became the seventh side to top the Premier Division this season following their win on Saturday afternoon.

Hallam progressed into Monday's draw for the next stage of the Vase as they beat Charnock Richard, who are a step higher than the Countrymen in the National League System, at Sandygate having trailed 1-0 at half-time.

Kieran Watson, Sam Smith and Reece Treasure all netted in the final half-hour to claim a 3-1 victory over their Hallmark Security League visitors.

Dronfield Town and Winterton Rangers are the other Division One sides through with both beating fellow Step 6 opposition.

Daniel Wood scored the only goal of the game as Dronfield defeated East Midlands Counties League hosts Barrow Town whilst Winterton went through by the same scoreline, Jay Webb's own goal separating the sides in their home clash against Lower Breck.

Three Premier Division teams are also definitely in the hat with Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Thackley and Barton Town all claiming First Round wins.

Seon Ripley struck twice as Hemsworth won 3-2 at Ebac Northern League hosts Bishop Auckland whilst there was a goal apiece for Daniel Broadbent, James Ngoe, Kieran Thompson and Jordan Hines in Thackley's 4-1 victory at Litherland REMYCA in ties that were all-Step 5 affairs.

Barton, meanwhile, were 8-0 winners at home to Step 6 Northern League visitors Brandon United in the biggest victory in the round, Luke Aldrich's second-half hat-trick adding to the five that the Swans netted before the interval.

Bottesford Town and Staveley Miners Welfare are both in Monday's draw but will need to win midweek replays to ensure their places in the Second Round.

Bottesford led 2-0 - Jack Cross and Martin Pembleton scoring - and then 3-2 in extra-time through Joe Edwards but were pegged back on both occasions to draw 3-3 at Step 7 hosts Saffron Dynamo and they will reconvene at Birkdale Stadium on Wednesday.

Staveley twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at home with Silsden, Jahmal Riley and Tyla Bell's equalisers ensuring they travel to West Yorkshire on Tuesday for a rematch with their fellow Step 5 opponents.

There was extra-time agony for Bridlington Town as they bowed out with a narrow 3-2 defeat at Sunderland RCA whilst Swallownest were eliminated by a penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 home draw with Garstang.

And, there were away defeats for Handsworth Parramore, Garforth Town and Glasshoughton Welfare at Irlam, Prestwich Heys and Shildon, respectively.

Ashley Flynn's sixteenth league goal of the season helped Yorkshire Amateur to a 2-0 home victory over Liversedge, with T'nique Fishley grabbing the second, as they went top of the table in one of the six Premier Division matches played.

Fellow promoted side Knaresborough Town climb into second after they defeated visitors Hall Road Rangers 4-2 with Paul Beesley, Brad Walker, Benjamin Cohen and Ben Parkes scoring for the hosts with Joshua Vickers and Daniel Nichols netting for the visitors.

Penistone Church miss out on a chance to reach the summit and drop to fourth with their 3-0 loss at home to Eccleshill United, courtesy of a Thomas Dugdale brace and an injury-time third from Khurram Shazad.

Cameron Rigby's goal earned a 1-1 draw for Maltby Main who move up a place to fifth after Kyle Jordan made it honours even with a 57th minute equaliser for hosts Worksop Town.

It was another difficult afternoon for the bottom two sides who were beaten at home, Harrogate Railway Athletic remaining in the basement as Ombeni Ruhanduka's hat-trick helped visitors Albion Sports to a 4-1 victory.

The Rail stay two points behind Goole AFC who went down 3-0 to Athersley Recreation, the visitors are up to fourteenth after their victory that came as a result of a Jack Briscoe first-half double added to in the second period by Christopher Wood.

In Divison One, Campion are now second, three points behind leaders Winterton, after Daniel Cunningham's 76th minute strike settled their match at Armthorpe Welfare by a single goal.

They go above Nostell Miners Welfare who were beaten 2-1 at home by Rossington Main, Declan Howe and Lee Holmes claiming the points for the away side after Joe Wood had given the hosts a 40th minute lead.

Basement side FC Bolsover remain without a point after a 6-0 home loss to AFC Emley, Shane Hamilton getting two of the Pewits goals in a match that saw the hosts end the game with ten men.

Harworth Colliery are now the other team in the relegation zone as they fall three places due to victories for the sides below them.

One of them, Parkgate, won 3-1 at Harworth to leapfrog their hosts as Zak Khalifa, Nathan Swindells and Mack Collinson gave them a 3-1 victory.

There were also priceless victories for Ollerton Town and Skegness Town in their respective battles to move further away from the bottom two.

Gavin King's tenth league goal of the campaign gave Ollerton a single-goal home victory over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who fall to fifth.

And, William Britton's strike fifteen minutes from time sealed an enthralling victory for Skegness as they won 4-3 on their travels at East Yorkshire Carnegie in a highly entertaining game.

Meanwhile, Grimsby Borough go above Worsbrough into fourth after a 4-0 home win over seventh-placed Selby Town with all the goals coming in the second period.

Marc Cooper opened the scoring soon after the interval with Callum Lovitt, Peter Winn and Jack Debnam making sure of the victory in the last half-hour of the encounter.
