Bridlington Town are through to their sixth consecutive East Riding Senior Cup Final after a 4-1 win over former NCEL side Westella & Willerby on Wednesday night. The Seasiders will lift the trophy for the fourth time in five years should they beat Hull City at the Roy West Centre in Hull at the start of May.
Brett Agnew's side were favourites in their semi-final clash against their opponents who now ply their trade in the Humber Premier League and led 2-0 by the interval courtesy of a brace from Chris Adams.
Alex Wood halved the deficit early in the second period, however, as Westella made sure Bridlington did not have things all of their own way.
But, the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side added two more to their tally from Matthew Broadley and Jake Day to comfortably progress.
Maltby Main, however, will not be in the final of their respective county cup competition as they bowed out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup in the last four.
Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League side North Gawber Colliery claimed their third NCEL victim in this season's tournament, having previously dispatched Parkgate and Athersley Recreation.
Robert Cartwright struck in the 86th minute of what was a tight encounter, meaning Main were beaten by a single goal and miss out on a trip to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane ground for the final.
In the only other game to take place in a soggy midweek,
Grimsby Borough stretched their lead at the top of Division One to six points with a 1-0 home win over
Dronfield Town.
Daniel Trott struck early on for the Wilderness Boys and that proved to be decisive as Borough extended their advantage over fellow top three sides Campion and Nostell Miners Welfare, having played more games than the chasing pack.
Meanwhile,
Staveley Miners Welfare's League Cup clash at home to
Worksop Town was postponed on Wednesday due to a waterlogged pitch.
And, all three games due to take place on Tuesday - at
Selby Town,
Liversedge and
Hallam - were also called off due to the wet weather.
