Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #37

30th November, 2025

Heavy rain badly disrupted the weekend's Macron NCEL action but eleven games still went ahead to bring November's hectic schedule to a fascinating close.

Handsworth were the only top six side in the Premier Division who played and they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Parkgate who stay eighth whilst their hosts remain in third spot.

Liam Tomlinson gave the visiting Steelmen a seventeenth minute lead but Joshua Nodder restored parity around the hour mark for the ten-man Ambers to ensure the spoils were shared.

Seventh-placed Pickering Town missed out on a chance to close the gap on the sides above them as they were beaten 4-0 at home by Campion, Ben Grech-Brooksbank, Shay Muirhead, Patrick Sykes and Ewan Gregson with the goals that keep their side in ninth.

Joseph Storey struck twice as Eccleshill United posted a 3-1 home victory over Penistone Church with Cole Roberts grabbing the Eagles' other goal whilst Luca Defalco netted what had been an equaliser for the visitors.

Eccleshill climb to tenth, still above Knaresborough Town who are now eleventh following their 2-0 victory at Albion Sports, Slater Barkham-Barnes and Ben Gelder ensuring their success with goals in the final twenty minutes.

Sports drop into the relegation zone as Horbury Town leapfrogged over them and out of the bottom two with a 4-2 home defeat of Thackley after trailing 2-0 in the opening 23 minutes thanks to goals for the Dennnyboys from Hass Gorji and Toby Marriott.

Abdulrahman Asamoah and an own goal brought them back level by the hour mark and then they struck twice in quick succession through Joe Jagger and Luke Playford to pick up a big victory.

Meanwhile, Bottesford Town have moved to four points clear of danger as they won 2-1 at Rossington Main, Scott Matthews' opener added to by a penalty from Jack McMenemy.

Ross Hannah halved the deficit with a spot kick for the hosts who stay seventeenth but are now just out of the relegation places on goal difference.

Division One leaders Dearne & District saw their nine-match winning streak come to an end as they went down 4-2 at fourth-placed Wakefield AFC despite taking a fifteenth minute lead through Adam Baskerville.

Akeel Francis levelled matters for the home side before Thomas Hinton and Callum Nicell gave them a 3-1 lead by the hour mark, Jack Harrison pulled one back for the visitors but Francis' second on 79 made sure the points were staying with Jason Blunt's side.

The victory tightens Wakefield's grip on a play-off spot whilst Brigg Town have moved into the top five after their 2-1 win at Club Thorne Colliery on Friday night, Jack Barlow and Lewis Shillito with the Zebras' goals before Luke Williams broke the home side's duck with an injury-time penalty.

A Declan Bacon brace, added to by one from Henry Cook, secured Crowle Colts a 3-0 home win over Nostell Miners Welfare that moves them up into eighth above Thorne.

Goole AFC are up to eleventh after a 1-1 home draw with Athersley Recreation, Jamal Mahmood's last gasp equaliser grabbing a point for the visitors after Nathan Perks had given the Vikings the lead early in the second period.

And, six goals were shared at the MPM Stadium as a double from Benjamin Dyer for Doncaster City made it a point apiece with hosts Ilkley Town in a 3-3 draw.
