Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #75

6th May, 2026

Liversedge have become the tenth side to win the Macron NCEL Premier Division and League Cup double after their comprehensive 7-1 win over Rossington Main at the Attis Arena on Tuesday night.

Ross Hannah put Rossington ahead in the third minute of the final of the JCP Construction NCEL Cup in memory of James Hitchcock but, as soon as Kelan Swales struck an equaliser on the quarter-hour mark, it was the league champions who motored on to claim the trophy.

Benjamin Atkinson struck twice and Jack Stockdill also found the net to give Sedge a 4-1 lead by the interval and their advantage only grew in the second period in front of a crowd of 412 at the home of Scunthorpe United.

Lewis Barlow grabbed his side's fifth before Swales scored his second and Atkinson completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot with nine minutes remaining.

It means that Liversedge join Shepshed Charterhouse, Guiseley, North Shields, Spennymoor United, Hucknall Town, Alfreton Town, Winterton Rangers, Farsley AFC and Worksop Town in claiming the double as they prepare for a return to Step 4 football next season.

Meanwhile, Worsbrough Bridge Athletic were looking to cause an upset in last midweek's Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup Final as they took on Worksop, now in the National League, at Doncaster Rovers' Eco-Power Stadium.

But, they went behind early on through Szhem Whyte-Hall before Oliver Greaves doubled his side's tally towards the start of the second period.

There was something to celebrate with ten minutes remaining as the Briggers were awarded a penalty that was converted by Keelan Grist but they could not find an equaliser.

It means Worksop won 2-1 to be crowned the cup's winners for the third year running and for a record-breaking sixteenth time overall.
