Borough management step down
31st May, 2015
Relegated Grimsby Borough have parted company with first team managers Steve Newby and Nigel Fanthorpe as the club gets ready for life back in Step 7 football.
The Wilderness Boys ended seven years in the Toolstation NCEL by finishing bottom of Division One this season.
The pair, who were founder members of the club back in 2003, have stepped down due to personal reasons.
During their time at the club, Borough have come up through the Lincolnshire League and Central Midlands League before joining the NCEL in 2008 and, whilst in our competition, they lifted the Wilkinson Sword Trophy in 2011/12 and reached the Semi-Finals of the League Cup.
A statement said: "They have amassed a massive 529 games in charge and have made many friends along the way.
"A big thank you from both to all their former opponents for providing courtesy and respect in what was a very difficult and trying last season on and off the pitch and not to forget the NCEL management for what must be the best organised and respected league in the country."
