Bryant named as new Shirebrook manager
12th January, 2019
Toolstation NCEL Division One side Shirebrook Town have announced a change in their management team, just minutes after a 2-2 draw with FC Bolsover in the Langwith Road derby on Saturday afternoon.
A statement from the club on Twitter announced the departure of joint bosses Lee Widdowson and Alan Widdowson, who had been in charge since October but had won only two of their last eleven league matches.
And, it was revealed that the club had recruited their successors from within as Shirebrook look to move back up the table after dropping to fourteenth after Saturday's draw.
The statement said: "Following today's game, Shirebrook Town have parted company with its management team of Alan Widdowson and Lee Widdowson - we thank them for their hard work during their time at the club.
"Shirebrook Town is pleased to announce [reserve team manager] Gary Bryant will step up to first team manager along with Carl Plastow as his assistant.
"We wish both all the best in their new role."
Their first game in charge will be next Saturday's home clash with Selby Town as they look to avenge a 7-0 defeat they suffered at the Robins at the start of the month.
