Update following Saturday's Division One abandonment
15th August, 2021
The Toolstation NCEL is delighted to hear reports that match official Andrew Jarvis is awake and stable in hospital after he was taken ill during Saturday's Division One match at Rainworth Miners Welfare.
Andrew, who was running the line at the Wrens' fixture with Hallam, required emergency medical treatment as the game was about to resume for its second half.
Thankfully, due to the speedy actions of a number of people and the use of an on-site defibrillator, he was able to get that treatment as quickly as possible.
All at the NCEL send our best wishes to Andrew and his family, and we hope to see him back in action soon.
We would also like to give massive thanks to those who came to Andrew's aid, in particular to Hallam physio Shannon Brooks, Wrens assistant boss Richard Smith and player Kieron Hinchley, and to the local emergency services for their quick response.
An update was posted on Hallam's social media on Sunday morning, saying: "As most are aware, yesterday’s game against Rainworth Miners Welfare was abandoned due to assistant referee Andrew Jarvis becoming unwell and receiving medical assistance from Hallam physio Shannon and her Rainworth counterparts.
"We have received some fantastic news from Andrew’s son this morning that he is awake and stable in hospital this morning, and will keep us updated with his recovery.
"There is still some way to go, so please keep Andrew and his family in your thoughts.
"Andrew’s son would like to thank Shannon, the Hallam and Rainworth players, and their medical staff for their quick thinking and brave actions.
"From all at Hallam FC, we wish Andrew the best in his recovery and hope to welcome him and his family to Sandygate soon."
