Marshall moves to Staveley
5th May, 2015
Staveley Miners Welfare have unveiled former Clipstone chairman and Retford United boss Brett Marshall as the new manager of their Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side.
Marshall, who had recently fulfilled his two-year commitment to his previous position at Clipstone, turned down a number of job opportunities to join the Inkersall Road outfit and he will be assisted by Paul Ward.
He said: "The Staveley job is the one I wanted.
"After taking everything about the role into consideration, including the facilities and infrastructure at Inkersall Road which are unrivalled at Step 5, it is a no-brainer.
"Combine all of that with the development and junior teams the club already has in place, along with the future ground improvement plans, and it was a very easy decision to make."
Brett was introduced to the existing players, staff and management on Tuesday evening, after which chairman Terry Damms said: "I take full 100% responsibility for the recent decisions at the football club and believe that Brett will immediately become 'one of us' in no time at all with his undoubted enthusiasm, knowledge of the game, honesty and work ethic.
"He knows what we seek at Staveley and understands our ethos, aims and ambitions, which will remain set in stone and he has bought into the same wholeheartedly and without question.
"Brett's more recent success as chairman of a NCEL Division One title-winning club and also as manager of a Premier Division title-winning club provides him with an overall CV in the NCEL that is second to none.
"Brett is not only bringing Paul in as his assistant manager but also a team of 'A' licensed coaches and an ex-professional goalkeeper who are going to coach and help our outfield players and provide specialist coaching for our goalkeepers.
"These are recognised coaches, qualified to the highest possible level and their invaluable input will benefit our young players, managers and junior level personnel as well as our first team players.
"Brett is excited at the prospect of working with us and working towards our football club's aims.
"The four-year plan we have in place provides us with exactly the kind of stability Staveley needs and is a club model that Brett himself believes in.
"Appointing Brett is one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make at the football club, our beliefs and shared vision are one and the same."
