Lindley becomes Glasshoughton assistant boss
13th June, 2015
New Glasshoughton Welfare manager Mick Norbury has named Pontefract born Phil Lindley as his player/assistant manager at the Leeds Road outfit.
For 34-year-old Lindley, it is his first step up into a managerial role.
He is vastly experienced at Evo-Stik League level football where, from the age of 18, he made many appearances for the likes of Frickley Athletic, Bradford Park Avenue, Ossett Town, Harrogate Railway and Goole AFC.
He retired from playing a couple of years ago to concentrate on coaching at The A1 Football Factory at Pontefract where he is a partner.
But, last season, he came out of retirement to help Pontefract Collieries gain promotion to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
A club spokesperson said: "He is excited about his role at Glasshoughton and is aware of the tight budget that the duo have to work with.
"One of his aims this season is to create a link between the club and The Football Factory whereby young players coached at the venue can join some of Glasshoughton's junior teams.
"Phil is warmly welcomed to Glasshoughton Welfare."
