Vikings announce change in management
31st October, 2018
Steven Jeff has stepped down from his role as Goole AFC manager to concentrate on playing and coaching at the club, it has been announced today.
Vikings chairman Alan Wilson revealed the change in the dugout in a statement to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side's fans, saying that it followed a meeting that took place on Tuesday night.
Jeff had been in charge since the summer following the resignation of previous manager Karl Rose and, alongside Derry Robson, helped to steady the ship ahead of the club's return to the NCEL following relegation last season.
That partnership, however, came to an end last month when Robson left to join Evo-Stik League side Belper Town.
Phil Sharpe, who recently joined the club's coaching set up, will now take over as manager with Nigel Emery remaining as assistant whilst Jeff will continue as player-coach.
The new management team's first match will be Saturday's league trip to Worksop Town as they look to haul the Vikings out of the bottom two.
Wilson said: "The club owes a huge debt of gratitude to Steve and Derry who stepped into the breach when Karl resigned.
"With very little time and even smaller resources, they put a team together to start the season.
"Without them, there would be no club. THANK YOU.
"Phil and Nigel will now take over the management role. I wish all members of the management team every success."
