2017/18 revised constitution announced
7th June, 2017
The NCEL has confirmed a revised constitution for the 2017/18 season following the news that Goole AFC are to stay in the Northern Premier League.
To ensure that there are 22 clubs in each division, the team that finished highest in the Premier Division and Division One relegation zones has been reprieved.
That means Barton Town Old Boys, who finished twentieth, will stay in the Premier Division whilst, in Division One, Westella & Willerby remain in the league despite ending the season in twenty-first spot.
Only two clubs will now be relegated from the Premier Division into Division One with the bottom two sides - Armthorpe Welfare and Retford United - demoted.
The rest of the changes remain the same with Hall Road Rangers, Penistone Church and Pontefract Collieries moving up into the top flight from Division One.
And, coming into the league from Step 7 will be East Yorkshire Carnegie from the Humber Premier League, FC Bolsover from the Central Midlands League and Swallownest from the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League.
Leaving the league are Cleethorpes Town who are promoted to the Northern Premier League whilst Nostella Miners Welfare depart from Division One into Step 7 and Teversal are moving across to the East Midlands Counties League.
