NCEL 2009/10 Match Review #14

24th September, 2009

Rainworth Miners Welfare missed out on a chance to move into the top five of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division as they staged a late fightback to get a point at home to Hallam.

The Wrens were 3-1 down going into the last twenty minutes thanks to a double from Simon Asquith and a goal from Daniel Patterson for the visitors.

But, Danny Naylor added to the hosts' opening strike from Ant Lynam and Matt Draper levelled as the game entered injury time to pick up a point.

Long Eaton United climb to twelfth after a 2-1 win over Hall Road Rangers at Grange Park.

Nick Ghislanzoni got both their goals early in the second half after Adam Walker had put the visitors ahead in the dying seconds of the opening period.

Four sides booked their place in the Second Round of the Presidents Cup.

Selby Town won 3-0 at Leeds Carnegie with goals from Tom Matthews, Stuart Dove and Liam Radford.

The Robins are now at home to AFC Emley who beat visitors Askern Villa, 2-1, Jamie Clayton with the winner ten minutes from time.

Bridlington Town made it 22 goals in five matches with a 5-0 home victory over Bottesford Town to book a trip to Arnold Town.

David Ricardo and Nathan Hotte had them two-up by the break before Danny Buttle, Alex Rhodes and Craig Burdick each found the net in the last quarter-of-an-hour.

Liam Cartledge's second half brace saw Dinnington Town progress 2-0 at home to Thackley.

The most dramatic game came at Carnarvon Street where Teversal went through to the Third Round of the Wilkinson Sword Trophy in a nine-goal thriller at the expense of Barton Town Old Boys.

They led at the interval through a 30th minute Dean Short penalty but Shaun Day and Elliott Sampson struck early in the second period to put Barton ahead.

Colin Cockerill levelled with ten minutes to go before Sampson immediately grabbed his second and Barton's third.

But, an injury time equaliser from Liam Wilde forced an extra thirty minutes with the score ending normal time at 3-3.

Lee Bingham put Teversal in front in the first period of extra time but that was then cancelled out by Gareth Barlow before Bingham got the vital fifth for the home side on 115 minutes to claim a 5-4 victory.

And, Appleby Frodingham bowed out of the FA Vase 3-2 in extra time at Gedling Town in their Second Qualifying Round Replay, despite goals from Danny Clarke and Matthew Robinson.
