22nd October, 2009
Rainworth Miners Welfare ended Armthorpe Welfare's unbeaten start to the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division with a 3-1 win at Church Street in midweek.
An Ant Lynam hat-trick made it the Wrens' night whilst Liam Hardy scored for the home side.
Rainworth remain fifth in the table but have signalled their intentions over the last couple of games after they also inflicted Bridlington Town's first defeat on Saturday.
Elsewhere, it was all knockout action as the final three League Cup Second Round games were played.
The most straightforward victory came for Shirebrook Town who continued their recent improvement in form with a 4-0 win at home to Nostell Miners Welfare.
Andy Crossland struck twice whilst Peter Stubley and Ben Kistell made sure of the victory in the final ten minutes.
Carl Fothergill took home the match ball as he scored all Pontefract Collieries' goals in their 3-1 win over visitors, Appleby Frodingham.
And, Selby Town progressed 4-2 on penalties after 120 minutes of football at Hallam ended 3-3.
Duncan Bray got a brace and Steve Lyon also netted for Selby whilst Tony Crane, a Scott Pickles own goal and a third from Jay McFadzean for Hallam made it a dramatic night.
It was the First Round of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy with Barton Town Old Boys being the only NCEL side to be knocked out as they went down 4-0 at Holbeach United.
A Craig Bridge brace helped Bottesford Town to a 4-2 victory at home to Boston Town whilst Lincoln Moorlands Railway were 3-2 winners over visitors, Blackstones, thanks to goals from Jamie Stokes, Scott Coupland and Tom Garrick.
Winterton Rangers needed extra time to overcome Bourne Town, 3-1, with Danny Frost and Joe Alldis grabbing the vital goals in the second period of the further thirty minutes.
Grimsby Borough's home game with Nettleham was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and will now be played next Wednesday (28th).
