4th February, 2010
Bridlington Town missed out on a chance to extend their lead at the top of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division as they fell to a 4-2 defeat at home to Parkgate on Tuesday.
Things were going well for the Seasiders as Wayne Wallace and Nathan Hotte had them two-up by the 21st minute.
But, Parkgate produced a magnificent turn-around to put more space between themselves and the bottom two.
Nathan Swindells and Andrew Gascoigne put them level by the interval before Leon Wainman scored their third on 53 minutes and Swindells made sure of the victory with his second in the last quarter-of-an-hour of the game.
Parkgate move up to fourteenth whilst Bridlington stay one point ahead of Rainworth Miners Welfare.
Third-placed Armthorpe Welfare moved to within nine points of the top two as they won 4-1 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare.
All of the five goals came in the second half as a Liam Hardy brace plus strikes from Paul Ashton and James Walker made it a comfortable evening for the hosts.
Graham Marchant got an injury time consolation for Nostell.
Glasshoughton Welfare moved out of the bottom three of Division One with a 3-1 victory over visitors, Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Jermaine Moyce and Alan Jackson scored in the first half, Calum Selby pulled one back for Hemsworth on 75 minutes but Jackson, making his debut after signing from Tadcaster Albion, made sure of the win with his second soon after.
Bottesford Town are through to the Final of the Wilkinson Sword Trophy as they won 2-1 at Tadcaster.
Graeme Whitehead had put the hosts ahead on 25 minutes but Paul Chatterton converted a penalty as the game went into first-half stoppage time and Luke Clifford struck on the hour to claim victory for the visitors.
They will face either Leeds Carnegie or Staveley Miners Welfare whose game was called off on Monday.
Rainworth Miners Welfare won the all-NCEL tie in the Third Round of the Notts Senior Cup as they came from behind to beat visitors Teversal.
Kyle Gee-Pemberton put the Division One visitors ahead on eight minutes and it took until the last fifteen minutes for the Premier Division title hopefuls to fight back, Massiah McDonald and Jermain Hollis with the goals to send the Wrens through.
Arnold Town put up a brave fight at Eastwood Town, Rob Gill finding the net for the Eagles, but they were beaten 3-1 in extra-time.
And, Brook Newton scored twice for Liversedge in the West Riding County Cup Quarter-Finals but went down 6-3 at Wakefield.
A frustrating winter continued when all matches involving NCEL sides were called off on Wednesday due to a combination of frozen pitches and snow.
