Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #3
14th August, 2011
Five Premier Division sides have maintained their 100% record after the second weekend of Baris Northern Counties East Football League action.
Thackley head the table on goal difference after Dean Walters' hat-trick helped them to a 4-1 victory at home to Brighouse Town.
They are also joined on six points after two games by Hall Road Rangers, Scarborough Athletic, Retford United and Staveley Miners Welfare whilst Armthorpe Welfare are also in the top six after picking up two wins out of three.
Neil Towler scored the winner for Rangers in a 2-1 victory at Long Eaton United whilst Tony Hackworth's fourth-minute strike was enough for Scarborough as they beat hosts Tadcaster Albion.
Jamie Brown struck in the first half for Retford and Barry Payne made sure of the 2-0 victory at Parkgate in the last ten minutes.
And, Staveley had Simon Barraclough's 79th-minute winner to thank as the Inkersall Road side notched up a 2-1 scoreline over visitors Winterton Rangers.
Armthorpe kept their good start going, meanwhile, as they won 1-0 at Liversedge, Henry Sibenge finding the net early in the second period to separate the sides.
Bridlington Town picked up their first points of the season as they dumped Selby Town to the bottom of the table with a 7-0 thumping.
New signing Josh Greening struck a hat-trick whilst Craig Hogg netted twice and Ashley Allanson and Tom Fleming also got on the scoresheet for the Seasiders.
Arnold Town were 3-1 winners at home to Pickering Town with two goals in quick succession just after the interval from Martin Carruthers and Luke Smithson securing the victory.
Simon Spencer's injury-time strike snatched Barton Town Old Boys a point in a 2-2 home draw with Nostell Miners Welfare whilst Lincoln Moorlands Railway were held by the same scoreline by visitors Maltby Main.
Pontefract Collieries and Handsworth are the two sides on six points in Division One.
The Colls won 1-0 at home to Askern Villa, courtesy of Liam Ormsby's 86th-minute penalty, and Handsworth were 2-1 victors on Friday night.
Brian Cusworth and Scott Bates had them in control by the 52nd minute and, although there was a late scare when Dinnington Town pulled one back, they held on for the win.
There were 3-1 home victories for Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Louth Town and Yorkshire Amateur.
Robbie Crapper, Ryan Pleasants and Andrew Hayward found the net for Hemsworth as they dispatched AFC Emley whilst a Jack Debnam brace helped Louth to their win against Appleby Frodingham and Yorkshire Amateur beat Teversal.
Two first-half goals, one a penalty, from Lee Garside set Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on their way to an entertaining 3-2 victory at Worksop Parramore.
Eccleshill United won 1-0 at Shirebrook Town with Andrew Fieldhouse grabbing the goal just after the hour mark and there was drama at Birch Park where an injury-time penalty from Scott Raworth saw Grimsby Borough take the points in a 2-1 win against Bottesford Town.
And, the spoils were shared at Rossington Main as they were held 1-1 by Glasshoughton Welfare.
