Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #6

25th August, 2011

Barton Town Old Boys and Louth Town made it fifteen Baris NCEL sides into the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup after they won their replays in midweek.

Barton were dramatic winners at league rivals Bridlington Town as Rob Northen struck in injury-time to claim a 3-2 victory.

The visitors will perhaps feel it was a justified win as they had taken the lead twice before only to have their advantage cancelled out on each occasion.

Louth Town won 2-1 at home to Gedling Miners Welfare, Danny Stevens with the winner on 66 minutes, just seconds after the visitors had levelled following Carl Martin's opener.

Rossington Main were very unlucky not to go through as they bowed out 4-2 on penalties to visitors Silsden.

The game had finished 2-2 after extra-time with Lee Holmes and Liam Charlton netting for Main.

Shirebrook Town were comfortable winners in the Second Round of the Baris NCEL League Cup, beating Premier Division side Maltby Main 3-0 courtesy of goals from Carl Haslam, Keiron Watson and David Middleton.

Long Eaton United went through 4-3 in extra time, Shaun Rickford striking the winner after their visitors Handsworth had equalised in second-half injury time with David Cockerill's second goal of the evening.

Jordan Missin netted four times for Albion Sports in their 5-3 Wilkinson Sword Trophy Second Round win at home to Eccleshill United whilst Grimsby Borough also progressed, 3-1 over visitors Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, courtesy of a double from Nathan Emson.

In the Premier Division, Brighouse Town were 2-1 winners at home to Scarborough Athletic, Jacob Lever and Andy Hawker scoring in the first half before the Seadogs got an injury time consolation from Ryan Blott.

A Tom Garrick brace ensured Lincoln Moorlands Railway defeated visitors Nostell Miners Welfare 3-1 whilst Ashley Lattimore's last-gasp leveller snatched Selby Town a point in a 1-1 draw at Winterton Rangers.

Worksop Parramore stretched their lead at the top of Division One with a 5-1 win at Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

Andrew Dawson had them ahead on 29 minutes before Damion Liddle restored parity but Cyrus Lewis made sure the away side led by the break.

A Lewis Owen own goal, followed by strikes from Simon Asquith and Lee Thompson, saw Parramore take control in the second period.

Glasshoughton Welfare were 4-3 winners at Appleby Frodingham thanks to a hat-trick from Darrell Young whilst Hallam beat hosts AFC Emley 4-2.

And, Duncan Bray's 89th-minute goal saw Pontefract Collieries win 2-1 in a friendly at Parkgate.
