Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #13
6th November, 2011
Bridlington Town remain top of the Baris NCEL Premier Division but had to come from two goals down to beat visitors Pickering Town on Saturday.
A Stuart Rice double had the Pikes ahead after just twenty minutes and the hosts had to wait until early in the second period to start their fightback.
James Bennett scored their first before a David Hartas own goal on 70 levelled the scores and Billy Logan popped up in injury time to snatch the three points for the Seasiders.
They remain ahead of Retford United, who won 2-1 at Hall Road Rangers, on goal difference.
Ricky Chambers and Warren Hatfield scored on either side of the interval before James McGarry threatened a comeback for the home team with seven minutes remaining.
Tadcaster Albion stay third, three points behind the top two, after their victory at fellow title hopefuls, Staveley Miners Welfare.
Graeme Whitehead struck the only goal of the game after eleven minutes.
Fourth-placed Scarborough Athletic were the biggest winners of the weekend with a 5-0 triumph at Thackley, helped on their way by three goals in the opening thirteen minutes from Curtis Bernard, Joe Naylor and Ryan Blott.
Brighouse Town move ahead of Staveley into fifth after their dramatic 3-2 victory at home to Parkgate, Danny Nadiole striking his second and the winner in the final three minutes.
Selby Town climbed off the foot of the table by beating visitors Armthorpe Welfare, 3-1, and are replaced by Maltby Main who suffered a 3-0 home loss at the hands of Liversedge.
Nostell Miners Welfare and Long Eaton United won 1-0 with late goals on their travels at Arnold Town and Lincoln Moorlands Railway, respectively.
Despite drawing 0-0 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Albion Sports remain top of Division One, but Handsworth closed the gap to just goal difference as they won 1-0 at Yorkshire Amateur, Tyrone Crapper with the goal after five minutes.
Only one point now separates the top four with Worksop Parramore and Glasshoughton Welfare both winning at home.
Parramore were 3-0 victors over Bottesford Town with a first half Andrew Dawson strike added to in the second period by Gavin Davis and Karl Colley whilst late goals from Darrell Young and Lee Bennett saw Glasshoughton triumph 2-0 against Eccleshill United.
The other two sides in the top six, Rossington Main and Pontefract Collieries, lost ground as they were beaten.
Rossington lost 3-2 at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic whilst the Colls fell to a 2-0 defeat at Louth Town.
AFC Emley stay seventh after an enthralling home clash with Shirebrook Town that saw the hosts winning 2-1 at half-time but being held 3-3 as the game went into injury time.
Christopher Wdowczyk had seemingly given the hosts the victory with their fourth but, three minutes into stoppage time, Grant Hackett popped up for the visitors to share the spoils.
A Greg Tobin brace helped Teversal to a 3-1 win at home to Grimsby Borough whilst Dinnington Town were 2-0 winners over bottom side Appleby Frodingham and Askern Villa drew 1-1 at Hallam.
