Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #29

12th January, 2012

Bridlington Town have moved up into second spot in the Baris NCEL Premier Division after their 3-2 victory at Brighouse Town in midweek.

The Seasiders were trailing going into the final twelve minutes before quickfire strikes from Wayne Aziz and Craig Hogg claimed the victory that moves them to within five points of leaders Retford United with two games in hand.

Joe Thornton struck twice in Staveley Miners Welfare's 3-0 home win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway, a result that sees the Inkersall Road side climb into fourth place.

Scarborough Athletic are sixth after their 2-2 draw with Nostell Miners Welfare, a game in which they were two goals down after just thirteen minutes through Brad Thompson and Graham Marchant.

But, the Seadogs quickly restored parity to the delight of the home crowd with strikes from Ryan Blott and Adam Lee.

They have gone above Parkgate who were beaten in a 4-3 thriller at Arnold Town.

The Eagles took the points courtesy of a Luke Smithson injury time winner after it looked as though Parkgate had grabbed a draw when Matthew Griffin netted on 86 minutes.

Division One leaders Pontefract Collieries fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Teversal, Greg Tobin and Rob Collins scoring for the visitors in the first half before Gary Lumley grabbed a late consolation for the Colls.

AFC Emley are into the Third Round of the League Cup after Scott Holt's 70th-minute strike sent them through in a 1-0 victory at Askern Villa.

Thackley, Shirebrook Town and Winterton Rangers, meanwhile, booked themselves Quarter-Final spots in the competition.

Nicky Matthews netted a double as Thackley won 5-1 at home to Retford whilst Peter Stubley's brace helped Shirebrook to a 3-1 home victory over Premier Division visitors Long Eaton United and Liam Slack and Kyle Hadley struck either side of half-time as Winterton went through 2-0 at home to Bottesford Town.

Albion Sports' Second Round tie at home to Barton Town Old Boys was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

And, Steve Baxter and Joel Ramm netted in Pickering Town's 2-1 friendly win with Dunnington.
