Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #50
5th April, 2012
Barton Town Old Boys became the fourth side to book their place in the Baris NCEL League Cup Semi-Finals by beating Staveley Miners Welfare on Tuesday.
A 2-1 home victory means they will now welcome Thackley to the Euronics Ground in the final four next week.
Their winner came with eight minutes remaining, Martin Cooper finding the net after Staveley's Tom Jones had cancelled out a first half opener from the hosts by Richard Medcalf.
In the Premier Division, there were 3-0 victories for Armthorpe Welfare and Arnold Town.
Two goals from Henry Sibenge, after Richard Smith had opened the scoring, made it a comfortable evening on Tuesday for Armthorpe at home to Parkgate.
And, Arnold won at Tadcaster Albion the following evening with a goal in first half stoppage time through Liam Garner before further strikes after the interval from Martin Carruthers and Josh Schofield made sure of the victory.
Albion Sports' Division One title hopes are almost over after they went down 4-0 at Glasshoughton Welfare.
Paul Nodder broke the deadlock on fifteen minutes and there were second half goals from Andrew Seed, Liam Radford and Steven Bennett.
Sports are now six points behind leaders Handsworth with three games left to play whilst Glasshoughton strengthened their hold on fourth spot with the victory.
Worksop Parramore moved up above Sports into second spot with a 1-0 win at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Gavin Allott with the strike on the half-hour that means they are also six points behind Handsworth but with two games in hand.
And, Maltby Main were involved in friendly action as they won 2-0 at home to a Rotherham United XI, courtesy of goals from Rob Branagan and Daniel McKenzie.
