14th September, 2015
Armthorpe Welfare came from two goals down to claim a place in the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend.
David Buck halved the deficit at AFC Liverpool by half-time before Jonathan Mirfin, Kieran Benson and Joe Lumsden put them into a 4-2 lead by the 74th minute.
The hosts grabbed a third in stoppage time but they could not stop Brian Johnston's men from progressing with a 4-3 victory and they will be at home to former Toolstation NCEL side Buxton towards the end of the month.
Thackley have another opportunity to join Armthorpe at the next stage as they have a replay in midweek following a 2-2 home draw with Abbey Hey on Saturday.
Mike Garrod and Craig Bentham struck in the final quarter of the game after the visitors had taken a two goal lead in the fist half.
Clipstone and Maltby Main were beaten, however, at home by Lincoln United and Frickley Athletic, respectively.
In the Premier Division, the top two sides both won 4-0 to extend their lead at the summit.
Worksop Town head the pack after a Tom Lee own goal and strikes from Tom Elliott, Kyle Jordan and Conor Sellars earned them a comfortable home win over Brigg Town who return to the foot of the table.
Jimmy Beadle and Daniel Clayton put second-placed Tadcaster Albion two goals up at Liversedge before George Conway and Adam Baker completed the victory after the interval.
A hat-trick from Ombeni Ruhanduka helped Bridlington Town to a 5-1 win at Albion Sports that moves them up to third spot, five points behind Tadcaster and six behind Worksop.
Wins for Barton Town Old Boys, Handsworth Parramore and Garforth Town saw them all move above Rainworth Miners Welfare who were beaten 1-0 at home by Pontefract Collieries and drop to eighth.
Scott Phillips struck twice as Barton won 3-0 at home to Parkgate, Kieran Wells converted a 42nd minute winner as Parramore defeated hosts Nostell Miners Welfare, 2-1, and Garforth won by the same scoreline at Cleethorpes Town, Mark Simpson taking the points with an 84th minute decider.
Pickering Town moved out of the basement as they won 4-1 at Athersley Recreation whilst Retford United continued to climb away from the foot of the table with a 2-1 home victory over Staveley Miners Welfare.
Two goals from Brett Agnew helped Hull United to a 3-1 win at Selby Town and the Citizens are now top of the Division One table, three points ahead of second-placed AFC Mansfield who, courtesy of Craig Mitchell and Joe Cheeseman, beat visitors Dronfield Town, 2-0.
They both climb above Hallam who were without a game whilst Bottesford Town and Hemsworth Miners Welfare cemented fourth and fifth spot with victories.
Bottesford prevailed 1-0 at Rossington Main and there was a Nash Connolly hat-trick in Hemsworth's 4-2 triumph at Knaresborough Town.
Andy Cooper was the top scorer of the weekend as he struck four times in Eccleshill United's 9-1 home win against Grimsby Borough with three more coming from Luke Harrop.
Ashley Flynn took his tally for the season to nineteen with a brace in AFC Emley's 5-0 victory at Teversal whilst Penistone Church also won on their travels, 3-0 at Hall Road Rangers.
Despite a 3-0 home victory over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Winterton Rangers remain at the bottom of the table and there were also wins on their own patch for Glasshoughton Welfare and Shirebrook Town who beat Lincoln Moorlands Railway, 3-2, and Yorkshire Amateur, 4-1, respectively.
